Playing Team Poker does not mean having more then one player per hand

Having just read the article by CBS, http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/07/13/entertainment/main708860.shtml , it be came clear to me that there is misconception about what Team Poker is about by some people. The article addresses a situation where a player invites several players over to help play a www.pokerstars.com tournament where each hand is decided by a group. The sites have no problem with this approach, and the group did poorly by their own admission by not finishing in the money.

Team Poker is not about playing together on hands. Team Poker is about individuals playing their individual hands in tournaments and the individual finish positions are used to determine which teams have the highest cumulative finish positions and thus win the team side of the Team Poker tournament. There is also the individual side of team poker tournaments and the winners are determined the old fashioned way by their individual finish positions. Team Poker allows the payout structure to be determined prior to start of the Team Poker tournament and how much is to be awarded to the top teams and how much will be awarded to the top individuals are published upfront.
